Breakfast clubs for every child

I started my career as a teacher and then I went on to set up and run a national charity which recruited thousands of social workers to support families in need. I was then asked by the government to chair a landmark national review of children’s social care which delivered £200 million to support the most vulnerable children and families.

Delivering a brighter future for children in West Cumbria is very important to me. I want every child to have the best start in life. My record of delivery shows that I can deliver for local families.

The next Labour government will introduce free breakfast clubs for every primary school child, but I want the current government to act now.
