Stop the sewage!

The image above shows all the sites where sewage is dumped into our waterways in West Cumbria.

New figures show that more sewage was dumped into the sea and waterways here in West Cumbria and across the country than ever before in 2023 by polluting water companies – and the Tories let them get away with it.

Tory MPs had the chance to vote for tough new rules to stop the sewage but they chose not to. Now, water companies are pumping record levels of sewage into our waters while their bosses take eye watering bonuses.

Labour will stop the bonuses, force water companies to clean up their act and toughen up regulation.

But I want the current government to act now.
