Josh MacAlister MP is inviting residents to come and speak to him at Whitehaven Weekender this Saturday, as he rounds off a packed month of summer events across West Cumbria.
Josh’s office will have a stall on Whitehaven Harbour on Saturday 29th August, where residents can drop by to raise an issue, ask a question, share their ideas for the town or find out more about Josh’s work. Josh will be on the stall from 11am to 1pm.
The event will round off a busy summer programme which has seen Josh travelling more than 400 miles the length and breadth of West Cumbria to meet residents, businesses and community organisations.
Over the last month, he has held 15 surgeries, coffee mornings, drop-ins and village meetings, attended by more than 450 residents.
He has also attended dozens of events and visits, meeting with organisations across the constituency and speaking to hundreds of residents about local and national issues and allowing him to see first-hand more of the work being done by businesses, volunteers and community organisations.
Josh said:
“It has been a brilliant month getting out and about across West Cumbria. I’ve held 15 surgeries, coffee mornings, drop-ins and village meetings, with more than 450 people coming along, I’ve visited loads of businesses and community organisations and attended dozens of events. And I’ve even managed to squeeze in a few Mountain Rescue callouts!.
“Being out in our communities and talking directly to people is one of the most important parts of my job. Whether it’s helping someone with an individual problem, hearing about something that needs fixing locally or getting behind a brilliant idea for our area, those conversations really matter.
“There’s been a huge amount happening across West Cumbria this summer, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has taken the time to come along, speak to me and share their views.”
Josh is encouraging residents from across West Cumbria to support the Weekender, which brings together HarbourFest with the Proud and Diverse Cumbria celebration, promising a fantastic weekend.
